Slapwagon formed in Nottingham in 1995.

They started writing their own songs from the beginning and, in their early gigs around the pubs of Notts, they played a mix of original material, rock and pop covers, and the odd novelty number, culminating in a headline gig at the Newark Festival in 1997.

Life got in the way a bit as jobs, moving to other parts of the country and starting families took priority, but they never lost touch or lost sight of the fact that playing music together was something they loved to do.

They would get together every now and then and jam, and continue to write music.

During the COVID-19 pandemic they started experimenting with recording remotely and momentum started to build. New songs emerged and an album formed. Also, as restrictions were lifted, they started their regular, annual residential trip to Tixall Gatehouse in Staffordshire, where they would play, write and record, and also do a bit of karaoke.
